Within Temptation ‘Whole World Is Watching' has been released

Within Temptation‘s latest album ‘Hydra,’ is set for a Feb. 4 release

The album features numerous collaborations. In addition to Tarja Turunen, Xzibit and Howard Jones, Soul Asylum’s Dave Pirner appears on the track ‘Whole World Is Watching.’ The video for that song has just been released

The clip features den Adel and Pirner standing on a rooftop overlooking a city, with the band appearing periodically. The storyline follows a man who wrecks his motorcycle while drinking, then has an arduous recovery process. He finally recovers, and literally throws his old life into a dumpster and sets it on fire, ready to put  his demons behind him.

Vocalist Sharon den Adel talked about their collaboration with Pirner. “When we wrote ‘Whole World Is Watching,’ Dave was at the very top of our list. He has such a captivating voice: it made the song exactly how it needed to be.”

So where did the album title come from? “It’s like us – undefinable!” says guitarist and songwriter Robert Westerholt. “What’s more, ‘Hydra’ is a perfect title for our new album, because like the monster itself, the record represents the many different sides of our music.”

Bullet For My Valentine's 'Raising Hell' ,back to the root

Bullet for My Valentine have just unleashed the brand new track ‘Raising Hell’ . It was just over a year ago that Bullet debuted the title track for ‘Temper Temper,’ but the boys are already back with the first piece of their upcoming fifth studio album.

‘Temper Temper’ hit shelves in February of this year, and although we gave the album a favorable review, many other publications marked the record with average and negative reactions. Possibly fired up by such reviews, Bullet for My Valentine rushed into the studio once again, and the first product of those studio sessions has already been made public.

Stylistically, ‘Raising Hell’ brings Bullet for My Valentine back to their formative years. The song hones a bit more attitude than recent offerings, focusing heavily on the band’s guitar section. The intro is very reminiscent of Children of Bodom‘s ‘Everytime I Die,’ but afterwards, there’s no mistaking ‘Raising Hell’ for anything but a Bullet for My Valentine track.

“It’s definitely more of a step towards our first two records,” frontman Matt Tuck states during a chat with Billboard. “We always like to keep changing our records and our sounds and stuff. I think you have to change, otherwise it gets boring for us and the fans get bored. Look at all the great bands through rock history; they changed on all their albums — especially Metallica. Their albums have always changed, and they’re the biggest metal band ever. So we just want to keep changing and get to another level each time

out.”

Red Fang's new video called 'Blood Like Cream'

Zombies are a common theme in popular culture, with countless books, movies and TV shows featuring the undead creatures. Red Fang‘s new video ‘Blood Like Cream’ is about zombies, but with a different taste.

The clip stars Fred Armisen from ‘Portlandia’ and formerly of ‘Saturday Night Live.’ He bursts into a bar where Red Fang are sitting there drinking. He tells them about the zombie invasion, but the band doesn’t seem too concerned until Armisen tells them these zombies don’t eat brains, they drink beer! The battle then ensues.

“This song is about the stress of balancing a touring lifestyle with having a family back home, but who wants to see a video about that?,” vocalist Aaron Beam tells Rolling Stone. “Boring! Instead, we have a video featuring lots of blood, beer, and exercise – some of us did more running in this video that we’ve done the whole year to date!”

Red Fang will perform ‘Blood Like Cream’ on ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ on Jan. 10. It will be their late night TV debut.

The band is doing plenty of touring in support of their latest album ‘Whales and Leeches,’ which was released in October. They are currently in the midst of a North American tour with The Shrine, Indian Handcrafts, Cancer Bats and Radkey that wraps up Dec. 27 in their hometown of Portland, Ore.

After playing Letterman in January, Red Fang head to Europe with The Shrine and Lord Dying for a lengthy run that wraps up in early April.

For Today‘s album ‘Fight the Silence’ will be released Feb. 4

For Today‘s album ‘Fight the Silence’ will be released Feb. 4, and the new video for the title track raises awareness about human trafficking . The clip was directed by Daniel Davidson (August Burns Red, Norma Jean).

Vocalist Mattie Montgomery explains how the song came about: “I watched a video someone sent me called ‘Girls Going Wild in the Red Light District.’ They were like, ‘Ignore the title. Just watch the video.’ In the video there are six girls standing in the window of a brothel in Amsterdam. This song starts playing and these prostitutes all start doing this synchronized dance to this music.”

He adds, “Then at the end of it, these girls get done and the windows go black and this screen at the top of the building comes on and says, ‘Every year thousands of girls are promised a dance career in Western Europe,” Montgomery says. “Sadly they many of them end up here.”

Montgomery concludes, “I was sobbing, snot coming out of my nose, tears coming down my face. How can we help? Where do we even start? I literally went through the lyrics to this song called ‘Hope,’ which is ironic. I went through the lyrics that I had written and selected everything and I hit delete. You know what? I want the world to hear about this thing. So I re-wrote them in 45 minutes that morning. Then we recorded it. That’s ‘Fight The Silence.’”

Proceeds from the sale of the song ‘Fight the Silence’ and the forthcoming album will go to the A21 Campaign. The organization fights human trafficking on a global scale by rescuing and rehabilitating those who have been victimized and helping oppose and prosecute traffickers.

For Today kick off a headlining tour at the end of January that will go through early March. The band’s summer is already planned, as they’ll be on Warped Tour for the entire June 14 – Aug. 3 nationwide run.

Soulfly have unveiled the video for 'Bloodshed'

Soulfly have unveiled the video for ‘Bloodshed,’ the first single from their latest album ‘Savages.’ The band’s ninth studio album was released in October.

“The song is about the absurdity of the human condition in territories plagued by bloodshed all over the world,” says frontman Max Cavalera. “Not just recent events like Iraq, but also historical conflicts such as the U.S. Civil War, World Wars I and II, etc.”

The video intersperses individual shots of band members playing with scenes from a Civil Ear-era battle. The band member shots are black and white, except for red, which is shown in color on a guitar, a shirt logo and bracelets around Max’s wrist to symbolize the blood that is shed in the song.

In addition to Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy, Cavalera is participating in a new project. The band is called Killer Be Killed, and in addition to Cavalera includes the Dillinger Escape Plan‘s Greg Puciato, Mastodon‘s Troy Sanders and former Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch.

Cavalera, Puciato and Sanders will each do vocals on the band’s debut album, set for a 2014 release. “This is a very special project,” Cavalera adds. “It’s a one of a kind thing, with a lot of potential. The album is a mix of heavy, fast and melodic songs. I love the idea of Greg, Troy and I singing together, with David Elitch’s amazing drumming. Being a part of this is something quite different for me.”

Cavalera’s autobiography ‘My Bloody Roots: From Sepultura to Soulfly and Beyond’ was released earlier this year in Brazil, and the English version is due in April 2014.

Behemoth released 'Blow your trumpets Gabriel' video

Behemoth‘s long-awaited 10th studio album, ‘The Satanist,’ has been released. The new track ‘Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel,’ along with a music video for the cut, has just been revealed by Behemoth.

Behemoth’s last full-length release was their 2009 album, ‘Evangelion.’ Shortly after, Behemoth frontman Adam ‘Nergal’ Darski was diagnosed with leukemia. At first, Nergal’s leukemia was thought to be too advanced for chemotherapy to help, but after experiencing the treatment and receiving a bone marrow transplant, Nergal’s health has increasingly been on the up-swing. With Nergal fronting the band, Behemoth has since embarked on a number of tours taking them around the world once again.

Behemoth have been playing ‘Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel’ live on the road, but this is the debut of the song’s studio recording. As to be expected, ‘Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel’ sounds evil as all hell, and the track’s video provides a stunning visual addition.

Reminiscent of past Behemoth videos, ‘Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel’ is a disturbing, yet very slick watch. The band’s hellish nightmare depicts a terrified young girl running through a field, only to meet three demonic figures who give the character a sickening communion. The female protagonist accepts the body and blood of the Satanic ritual, only to be stripped naked and possessed. Meanwhile, a male figure carrying a live sheep on his back brings the animal to a sacrificial spot while shots of a grey wolf are interwoven throughout the video.

“Yes, we took all the time in the world to complete this project,” says Nergal. “And we did everything that was humanely possible to accurately express our vision. We crossed the Rubicon. ‘Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel’ is an ecstatic manifest of our unrestrained artistic will, where we dare to reach out beyond the limitations of the heavy metal genre. And it’s only the beginning…

Avenged Sevenfold is back with their new video called "Sheperd of Fire"

Avenged Sevenfold are taking fans straight to hell and back in their new fiery video for the song ‘Shepherd of Fire.’ The track, from Avenged Sevenfold’s 2013 release ‘Hail to the King,’ was also included in the ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ video game series as part of the DLC ‘Apocalypse,’ giving fans a good idea of the tone and direction of the song and subsequently, the new video.

Sticking with their go-to guy, the video was directed by creative visionary Wayne Isham. The clip features the band driving through what can best be described as the depths of hell mixed with scenic countryside, surrounded by flames, skulls, and burning landscapes. In other words, just an average Sunday cruise.

Mixed with performance clips of the band bathed in devilish shades of red, the video fits frontman M. Shadow’s  description of the song. “If you just listen to the music, if feels you’ve been taken down to Hell,” Shadows told Kerrang!. “From the riffs, to the bells ringing, to the horns, to the drumbeat, it feels like you’ve been dragged down.”

ERRA 'Hybrid Earth' new video is about experience and intuition

ERRA, The Birmingham, Ala., metalcore outfit are exclusively premiering their new video for ‘Hybrid Earth’

This brutal clip is primarily a performance piece with a few shots of shadowy figures milling about the forest at night. And while a majority of the video is shot in shadows and darkness, the spotlight is right where it needs to be to highlight the band’s performance prowess.

Frontman Garrison Lee belts the rough vocals with guttural intensity while guitarist Jesse Cash delivers the more melodic clean vocals and joins with fellow guitarist Alan Rigdon in showcasing some nimble fingers on some of the track’s more trickier licks. And it should be noted that bassist Sean Price and drummer Alex Ballew power the song with some killer and definitely prominent low end.

‘Hybrid Earth’ is the new single off of ERRA’s latest effort, ‘Augment.’ Speaking about the album, Cash says, “Nothing is taken away or watered down, only improved upon. A big message in the album is that experience and intuition is a greater tool for comprehending reality than rationalism or science. It centers around struggles that we (and most individuals) have faced throughout our lives and addresses many relatable subjects including the relationship between science and religion, death and loved ones, divorce and renewal

of one’s self.”

Linkin Park 'A Light That Never Comes' video marking pre 'Recharged' album

Linkin Park recently teamed with acclaimed DJ Steve Aoki to create their new single, ‘A Light That Never Comes.’ The collaboration came about for Linkin Park’s new ‘Recharge’ online video game and corresponding ‘Recharged’ album and now there’s a video for the song, as well.

In the promo, a number of holographic people lay in wait, hoping for the day that the light comes back on in the dilapidated wasteland the world has become. Giant statues overlook the city, but the ever increasing current signifies that a change may be about to come.

This futuristic clip was months in the making as the crew worked on the clip utilizing Dell Computers. At the end of the video, there’s a tacked on portion showing the viewer a little bit about how the promo came together.

As previously mentioned, ‘A Light That Never Comes’ can be found on Linkin Park’s ‘Recharged’ album, that features a number of ‘Living Things’ tracks remixed in addition to the new material. The disc is due Oct. 29 and pre-order bundles are available at the band’s website.

Metallica will be on tour with Green Day and U2

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has revealed his band recently agreed to tour with fellow rock giants U2 and Green Day.

In an interview with MTV News to promote Metallica's 3D concert movie Through the Never, Ulrich told us the bands have talked about joining forces and going on tour together.

"U2 came to San Francisco two summers ago and we ended up having a lot to drink with them and Green Day following a dinner," explained the Dane, who formed Metallica in 1981 with frontman James Hetfield.

"I was told in the wee morning hours following this outing that members of U2, Green Day and Metallica agreed to tour together. We haven't talked about it since, but speaking for myself I'd be very up for that."

And, having headlined festivals all over the world, could the legendary heavy metal foursome be topping the bill at Glastonbury in 2014?

"Every year there's probably less chance of us doing it than the previous year, but it just looks like it would be a fun night out," said Ulrich, who this December celebrates his 50th birthday.

"We've been fortunate enough to play every other festival on this planet numerous times, so Glastonbury is the only one that's eluding us. There's such a vibe and it's maybe the most quintessentially English festival.

"Everybody who goes there loves it and obviously Michael [Eavis] doesn't need our help – I completely appreciate and respect that – but if he ever wants to get hold of us we're in the Yellow Pages and ready to go!"

Within Temptation Paradise (What About Us?) features former Nightwish singer

Within Temptation have just issued their new, four-song ‘Paradise (What About Us?’) EP, which features a title track collaboration with former Nightwish singer Tarja Turunen. The video for the track, which recently debuted, can be seen above.

The song is based on a speech given by retired four-star general Peter van Uhm of the Royal Netherlands Army back in May of this year. Frontwoman Sharon den Adel says, “His speech made a deep impression on us. His message being that the creation of a better world is only possible when you don’t think about ‘yourself’ or ‘them,’ but just think about ‘us.’

Other songs on the new EP include demo versions of ‘Let Us Burn,’ ‘Silver Moonlight’ and ‘Dog Days,’ each of which will turn up in completed form on the band’s still-untitled next album. The group is currently working on the disc, which is expected to surface in early 2014 and this EP serves as the perfect taste test for the upcoming album.

Within Temptation are also in the process of filling out their post-album plans. The first leg of the band’s world tour will kick off Feb. 26 in Helsinki, Finland.

Motorhead released 'Crying Shame' from new album 'Aftershock'

Motorhead, has just released the first single from ‘Aftershock,’ the group’s 21st studio album. The new song ‘Crying Shame’ is now available for your headbanging pleasure.

Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister has been experiencing some health issues lately, having a defibrillator inserted into his chest and suffering from a hematoma, leading to various show cancellations. Motorhead even had to cut their 2013 Wacken performance short due to Lemmy’s ailments. The band, along with Lemmy himself, have released official statements throughout the frontman’s tumultuous year, urging fans that the legend is doing fine and not to worry.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to hear ‘Crying Shame’ live sometime in the near-future, but for now, fans are able to indulge themselves in a new Motorhead track. ‘Crying Shame’ sounds like … well … Motorhead! The hooks are catchy, the piece chugs along with pure rock intensity and Lemmy sounds pretty damn good as well. The song is currently streaming exclusively at Rolling Stone.

‘Crying Shame’ is not the only new ‘Aftershock’ single that fans can currently hear. Yet another fresh Motorhead cut, ‘Heartbreaker,’ is currently spinning exclusively on Sirius XM’s ‘Liquid Metal’ and ‘Ozzy’s Boneyard’ channels.

Trivium released new album Vengeance Falls in October

Trivium are slated to release their sixth album ‘Vengeance Falls’ in October, and the album has been preceded by the single ‘Strife.’ Now, the band has unleashed the music video for the song (watch above).

The video sees the band play in a warehouse, with clips of fire, snow-covered mountains, and close-ups of individual members. Frontman Matt Heafy seems a bit more relaxed during some of the choruses, perhaps counter-balancing the energy of the music with the reflective and emotional lyrics to invoke a certain feeling with the viewers. The song is very hook-oriented with a bit of an inflection from modern metal and turns the spotlight on a constant of Trivium’s music: melody. The first solo is harmonized before Heafy breaks away from fellow axeman Corey Beaulieu for a solo of his own with some excellent phrasing.

The album was produced by Disturbed / Device mainman David Draiman, who promised the following: “‘Vengeance Falls’ is a masterpiece of metal. It is their finest work to date, and a record so strong that it will blow the doors open to a world they deserve to dominate.” That sentiment seems to echo what Heafy said when stating that the new album “is the culmination of everything we’ve gone through; the representation of struggle endured from within and experienced from the world. Every failure and every success has led us to this moment. Vengeance Falls is this moment in time…”

Trivium have earned their reputation as road dogs and will continue to wear that title as they embark on a co-headlining tour across North America in support of ‘Vengeance Falls’ with DevilDriver. More information on the tour can be found at Trivium’s website.

Korn unleashed 'Never Never' video

Korn have just released an official music video for ‘Never Never,’ the first single from the band’s 11th studio album, ‘The Paradigm Shift.’ The video also marks the return of guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch, who recently reunited with the group after a 10-year absence.

The clip for ‘Never Never’ is almost reminiscent of ‘Freak on a Leash’ due to its slow motion effects and portrayal of the band in some sort of otherworldly dimension. Bullets aren’t flying in ‘Never Never,’ but the members of Korn perform the new track while dodging the deadly arms of a giant clock.

The switches in speed of motion complement the anti-gravitational sound of ‘Never Never.’ Effects such as slow motion jumps and crash cymbal hits go hand-in-hand with a witch-like clock keeper, who battles the members of Korn in the style of a video game. To fight off their deadly foe, the band use their instruments along with Matrix-like maneuvers in the giant, ticking war zone.

When the song ‘Never Never’ debuted in August, the track was met with mixed reactions from fans; a response that Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis was expecting. “We put this ['Never Never'] out first cause I knew it was going to piss off a lot of people,” Davis tells Metal Hammer. “And um, so I did it. That song ain’t for dudes, it’s for the ladies.” Despite some negativity thrown at ‘Never Never,’ fans quickly embraced the song ‘Love & Meth’ soon after its release later on in August.

Killswitch Engage "In Due Time" video with Jesse Leach

Killswitch Engage are having a great time with the return of frontman Jesse Leach and that’s definitely apparent in the band’s new video for ‘In Due Time.’ The song is the lead single from the group’s forthcoming album, ‘Disarm the Descent,’ due April 2.

The clip itself comes off more like a rehearsal than an actual video shoot, with the band running through the song while the cameras roll and capture all of the good times had while playing together. Leach told Rolling Stone, “I [originally had] the idea of doing a sort of a tongue-in-cheek video, as I am a huge fan of some of the early Foo Fighters videos. However, when I read the treatment that [directors] Ian and Mike sent over, it was perfect. To me, this video shows the band as we are, a balanced push and pull of intense and sincere verses fun-loving, down-to-earth guys. We had our actual crew and friends in the shoot to create a natural vibe. So what you see is what we are: a band and a family that doesn’t take ourselves too seriously.”

Killswitch Engage have already released the track listing and artwork for the disc, and they’re off to a solid start with ‘In Due Time‘ as the lead single. Leach recently stated of the new album, “To me, this is by far my best vocal performance, much thanks to Adam [Dutkiewicz]’s guidance and faith in my abilities … I am very grateful to be where I am in life, back in an amazing band with a record we are all excited for the world to hear. Thanks to all the fans for their warm welcome back and their undying love for Killswitch Engage.”

Bring Me The Horion released Shadow Moses

Bring Me the Horizon launch the new year in blistering fashion by debuting the new single ‘Shadow Moses.’ Now, they’ve just unveiled a stirring music video for song.

The clip may be a little difficult to watch for those with motion sickness, but the quick-cutting camera trick definitely adds something to the video that makes it unique. The imagery of the band performing against stark backdrops like a snow-covered field or an ocean shore in winter provides striking visuals for the hard-hitting track and the usage of red flares is definitely eye-catching.

‘Shadow Moses’ is the lead single off of Bring Me the Horizon’s forthcoming album, ‘Sempiternal,’ due April 30. Singer Oli Sykes previously stated of the new disc, “I’ve never been so confident about an album. It makes our last record sound like s—. We’re doing stuff we could never dreamed of doing before.”

For those wondering about the odd album title which is repeated in the song ‘Shadow Moses’ several times, it means “eternal and unchanging” or “everlasting.” Given that knowledge, the dark and cold imagery in the video makes the clip all the more intense.

Suicidal Tendencies released '13' featured Cyco Style video

Suicidal Tendencies are back with their first new album in 13 years and as a result have decided to call the disc ’13′ (which just so happens to be the name of the new Black Sabbath album, as well). The group recently polished off the forthcoming effort with the band’s own Mike Muir co-producing the disc with Paul Northfield. In addition, fans can now get their first taste of new music courtesy of the newly released video for the single ‘Cyco Style.’

The current Suicidal Tendencies lineup consists of Muir on vocals, Dean Pleasants on lead guitar, Nico Santora on rhythm guitar, Steve Bruner on bass and Eric Moore on drums.

The release of ‘13,’ due March 26, promises to be part of a very big year for the group as the band is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Keeping true to the ’13′ theme, the album has 13 tracks on it, including ‘Cyco Style’ which is the lead single. The energetic video for the track, which mostly consists of live footage, can be seen below.

The ’13′ album also features a handful of special guests. Metal Mulisha’s Larry Linkogle and Jimmy Fitzpatrick turn up on ‘Smash It!,’ while pro skaters Danny Way, Tony Trujillo, Steve and Alex Olson, Vincent Alvarez, Elijah Berle and Jim ‘Red Dog’ Muir all lend a hand on ‘Show Some Love … Tear It Down.’

Frontman Mike Muir states, “First, thank you for all the people that have patiently waited for this record. Now I will shut up and let the music do the talking.” Speaking of which, fans can check out the music when Suicidal Tendencies hits the road this spring. After a private South by Southwest performance this week and the Cyco Family Weekend with Infectious Grooves in early April, the band will officially launch their ‘Slam City Tour’ with Madball, Sick of It All, D.R.I. and Wake the Dead April 11 in San Francisco.
