Soulfly have unveiled the video for 'Bloodshed'
Soulfly have unveiled the video for ‘Bloodshed,’ the first single from their latest album ‘Savages.’ The band’s ninth studio album was released in October.
“The song is about the absurdity of the human condition in territories plagued by bloodshed all over the world,” says frontman Max Cavalera. “Not just recent events like Iraq, but also historical conflicts such as the U.S. Civil War, World Wars I and II, etc.”
The video intersperses individual shots of band members playing with scenes from a Civil Ear-era battle. The band member shots are black and white, except for red, which is shown in color on a guitar, a shirt logo and bracelets around Max’s wrist to symbolize the blood that is shed in the song.
In addition to Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy, Cavalera is participating in a new project. The band is called Killer Be Killed, and in addition to Cavalera includes the Dillinger Escape Plan‘s Greg Puciato, Mastodon‘s Troy Sanders and former Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch.
Cavalera, Puciato and Sanders will each do vocals on the band’s debut album, set for a 2014 release. “This is a very special project,” Cavalera adds. “It’s a one of a kind thing, with a lot of potential. The album is a mix of heavy, fast and melodic songs. I love the idea of Greg, Troy and I singing together, with David Elitch’s amazing drumming. Being a part of this is something quite different for me.”
Cavalera’s autobiography ‘My Bloody Roots: From Sepultura to Soulfly and Beyond’ was released earlier this year in Brazil, and the English version is due in April 2014.
