Stone Gossard new solo album called 'Moonlander'

Pearl Jam's Guitarist Stone Gossard has been working on a solo album titled ‘Moonlander’ and the the first taste of the disc has arrived.

‘I Need Something Different’ is a catchy, driving rocker with the guitarist bemoaning his past and his inability to move forward before repetitively belting the title chorus. Gossard also noodles through some nifty electric guitar chords, as well.

The track is featured on the ‘Moonlander’ album, which will be arriving June 25. Fans can also pre-order the ‘Apollo’ EP, which is part of the Moonlander project, via iTunes

The follow-up to 2001's "Bayleaf," the new solo album's songs were recorded between 2003 and 2011. "Over the last year, I went through all of my old demos and recordings that weren't used as Pearl Jam or Brad songs and picked my favorites," Gossard said.

Gossard's "Moonlander" comes as he also gears up for plenty of Pearl Jam activity. PJ, who itself is in the process of recording a new album, will be playing Chicago's Wrigley Field on July 19 and London, Ontario on July 16.
